Technology and
people
are RKL’s
advantage
President
David Sieglitz
Please tell us RKL’s products and activities.
RKL is well known throughout many industries. Our main products include the Continuous Processor (CP), Containerized Batch Mixer (CBM), Self-Contained Processor (SCP), and our newest offering the Continuous Hybrid Reactor (CHR).
CP is a twin shaft, co-rotating mixer/reactor, designed to mix/react one or more dry materials with one or more liquid materials on a continuous basis, producing a consistent product at the discharge end of the unit. The industries are wide in range and diverse in application. We are always searching to find new prospects with different applications to introduce them to continuous processing technology.
CBM is a tumble blender with an interchangeable high speed impeller that can reduce cycle times by 50% or more! In addition to blending powders, the CBM can also incorporate up to 15% liquid binders into the blended powders. It is an excellent choice when uniform dispersion of a small amount of active ingredient in to a large amount of filler is required.
SCP is designed to continuously process a wide range of materials by significantly reducing the moisture of the material and transforming it into a dry powder or high viscosity slurry.
CHR is the next level in enhanced performance from our holdup type reactors. It has excellent basic performance in areas such as maintaining long residence time and piston flow characteristics. It can achieve an efficient production for processes of polymerization reactions and high degree of monomer extraction.

What’s RKL’s advantage or differentiator?
Our technology and people are RKL’s advantage and differentiator. The greatest strength of the organization is our “Great People”. Each member that is invited to join RKL is not only chosen due to their ability, but also their attitude, drive and desire to learn and grow as a team member of our organization. Each person has an attitude of learning new technologies and desire to grow through their work.
Three things that are critical to become sustainable successful company are:
1.We create win-win partnerships with our customers for mutually beneficial relationships. We truly listen to our customers and customize our machinery to fit their exact requirements.
2.We ensure that our customers receive the highest quality product possible with on-time delivery as promised. Our machines bring a larger value to the customer than the price that they have paid.
3.We are required to build and maintain good relationships with our vendors based on mutual trust and respect.
Could you tell us about the best practice of collaboration
with KURIMOTO, if any?
Over the years we have had many fruitful technical exchanges with Kurimoto, LTD. The SCP technology was adapted from Kurimoto’s Machinery Division’s SCPD for the U.S. market in 2012. By working closely with Kurimoto, RKL modified the design to meet American and European standards. The same can be said of the CHR which was adapted from Kurimoto’s Machinery Division’s HB Reactor for the U.S. market in 2019.
Please tell us when you feel rewarding working in RKL.
My greatest joy is in leading the members of RKL and educating them on the importance of our past as well as helping our team members to grow both professionally and personally. It is my duty to ensure that each member has the support and guidance necessary to be successful in their individual role and as a part of our entire team.
How would you like to do RKL in the future? What do you need for that?
Our current retention time is more than 10.1 years while the average retention time in the US is approximately 4.2 years. I personally had the pleasure of working with many former RKL members who have now retired. Each person had 30-50 years of experience with RKL when I worked with them.
To ensure that we retain this knowledge we must continue to actively develop and implement processes and procedures which in the past only lived in the minds of our retired members who are no longer a resource.
I highly value the opportunity to build relationships with my colleagues in Japan. I also enjoy the culture and food, especially Takoyaki! Whenever I think about first joining RKL and meeting the Kurimoto members, I was told that maybe I am a little bit Japanese. That compliment makes me feel honored to be part of Kurimoto.
We are waiting for your visit and please feel free to contact me if you would like to know more about what we do here in the United States at Readco Kurimoto or Kurimoto USA or if you have any questions at all about our country.
